Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked Questions

How do I know we would be a good fit?

I provide a free 20 minute phone consultation to explore your needs and provide you with time to ask me questions. If the services you need/goals are within my scope of competence, we will be able to schedule an intake session. If however, it’s not in my scope of competence, I will let you know and provide you with referrals for others who may be a better fit. There will also be times when it may take an intake session and/or a few more sessions to determine if we will be a good fit.

Its important for you to have a safe space to heal and work on yourself…having the right therapist will also be just as important in order to facilitate that. It’s normal to feel nervous when first meeting your therapist for the first time. It takes time to build a rapport so make sure to ask questions and take note of how you feel and your interactions with your therapist.

How often and how long do I have to be in therapy?

The length of therapy is dependent on what you want to accomplish and your tolerance and commitment level. Each person is unique with their own experiences and circumstances, therefore, I take the time to get to know you and tailor treatment to, not only fit your needs, but also work within a safe tolerance level.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, I offer telehealth sessions. However, I take great care in determining if telehealth will be appropriate or not depending on what you’re needing from therapy as well as your recovery process. For those who need more support, I have found that engaging in hybrid sessions (i.e. mix of in-person and telehealth) would be more beneficial. Therefore, this will be determined collaboratively as we work together.

 Do you take insurance?

Your confidentiality is extremely important to me, therefore to protect your confidentiality and ensure that you have full control over your treatment, I am an out-of-network provider for insurance. I do not bill insurance companies directly, however I am happy to provide you with monthly receipts (i.e. super bills) that you may be able to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance to confirm the following out-of-network benefits by asking these important questions:

  1. Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health?
  2. Do I have a deductible, and if so, what is it?
  3. What is my coinsurance/ what percentage of my bill will be covered after my deductible is met?
  4. How do I submit a superbill?

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

I offer a limited number of sliding scale openings but generally have a waitlist, therefore, please inquire during your initial consultation. In order to qualify, you will need to provide proof of income.

How do I schedule a consultation and/or ongoing appointments?

  1. Click on “book a consultation” to schedule your free 20 minute consultation.
  2. Once we have determined that I can meet your needs, I will send you a link to access your paperwork and client portal. For on-going sessions, please use the client portal.
